Una pena, che.

So today ESPN finally showed the games from the Basketball World Championship… Too bad Argentina lost… by one point… Yeah. Anyway, Team USA (I guess they don’t call it the Dream Team anymore) lost too, so we’ll be facing them tomorrow for the bronze.

I haven’t posted in a while… I think I may have forgotten how to keep a blog. Like for instance… you can post anything… since it barely matters. So here, an image which kinda inspired me to do the comic I’m doing right now. (Despite the fact that my comic takes place in the Inca Empire, and these are the ruins of the Mayan Empire.)

Argentina-Bandera-P2080016.jpg

First of all, a late happy birthday to my beautiful country who turned 190 yesterday. Sorry this post is a day late, but I didn’t forget you Argentina, don’t cry. In fact, I made empanadas to celebrate the day.

So we didn’t get to participate in the world cup final, too bad… next time will be our time. The cup was a fun ride while it lasted, even with crazy refereeing and low goal average. Zinedine Zidane got the golden ball award for best player, and deservedly so. Once again, Europeans showed that in their turf, no one else wins. Which is fine with us South Americans, because anywhere outside Europe, we always win.

The space shuttle discovery continues its nearly flawless mission to space. And you really have to check this video out, it really is something. (Quicktime required)

For those of you not living in NY (where light pollution makes star gazing impossible), don’t forget to check the location and time of the Shuttle’s next pass-by over your town, here. Just select your country, input your town or city, and select 10 day predictions for ISS. It will show you the time, angle and visibility of the next International Space Station and Space Shuttle pass-bys. It’s a pretty big thrill to see it happen.

Lastly, just to post some art in this blog, something which I never ever do. Here is a piece of fan art for my friend Pedro Camargo’s brilliant “Space Sucks”. Of course, instead of looking at my piece of crap, go check the actual comic. Its pretty insane and definitively not for the overly sensitive or those who adore space babies.

For all mankind

Space Shuttle Discovery launched today.

Last year, when the Discovery was in orbit, docked to the International Space Station, my family and I would go to the backyard at sunset and see the shuttle and the station arching through the sky. It was an incredible sight.

Lately I’ve been surprised by people’s disinterest with space travel and exploration; that they think it’s a waste of money and time, quite frankly, baffles me. Without even mentioning the technological and commercial benefits that space travel provides us, certain things should make us all proud; that there is a permanently manned space station, that there are robots exploring mars, that there’s a private and cheap spaceship, that there’s human technology leaving the solar system right now, but more importantly that we haven’t stopped exploring.

So enjoy, and be proud, because it’s for all mankind.
